Student Sports Tours to Portugal - The new tour alternative
Portugal is a great new sports tour alternative to Spain and Italy for university sports teams who have done the big festivals and want a new challenge. Lisbon and the Algarve including Albufeira and Faro are the most popular destinations for student rugby tours, hockey tours and football tours in 2007. All sports fans will find plenty here to please them: the country was an excellent host of the Euro 2004 football championships, and football remains their greatest passion. Watching or playing the friendly locals always make you feel welcome. Rugby and Hockey are also played around Lisbon in the North and Faro in the South with these two cities acting as great tour bases.
Aside from your chosen sport though, Portugal is full of exciting activites; there is obviously a huge range of watersports, plus adventure sports, and of course there are many exceptional golf courses in Portugal for you to enjoy.
Lisbon, as seen above, is one of Europe’s most attractive capital cities. The quaint, narrow streets lined with relaxed cafés provide the perfect spot to relax, have a beer and let the world go by. Take the famous old trams through the city to see the historic buildings, or to get to one of the 50 plus museums across the city. At night the place comes to life, with most clubs open till 6am. The food is superb, prices are relatively cheap.
The Algarve. Further south in the Algarve you can enjoy the coastal towns of Faro, Albufeira and Lagos, with their renowned summer nightlife and excellent beaches. These resorts are ideal for adult and student groups looking for a lively resort with plenty of sun, sea and....sport. The beaches are a great place to relax and the bars and clubs are open till the early hours!
