Student Travel Guide to Paris

The Ultimate Travel Guide to Paris for students and backpackers

Introduction to Paris

Paris is one of Europe’s most amazing cities, boasting monuments like the Eiffel tower and arc de triomphe. It is one of the worlds leading business and cultural centres and has a status as one of the world’s most iconic cities. Being a fairly compact city, Paris is an ideal destination for a short trip, allowing tourists to explore most of the sights in a short time. The river Seine runs through the heart of the city and more than ten miles of the rivers banks are now listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, outlining its natural beauty. The Louvre and Musee d’Orsay are also in the centre of the city, home to the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo. The Champs Elysees runs through the west of the city up to the arc de triomphe and the Eiffel tower.

Many of the major sites in Paris are walkable, however there is also a metro service that runs during the daytime as well as a train service. Paris is home to Paris Saint-Germain FC and Stade francais rugby club, both who play at the 80,000 seat Stade de France, which has hosted world cup finals in both football and rugby. The narrow streets of the Latin Quarter are packed with bars and restaurants with the Pigalle area hosting the Moulin rouge.

With such iconic landmarks, Paris is the most popular tourist destination in the world and is un-missable for anybody that enjoys travelling.
