Student Travel Guide to Prague
The Ultimate Travel Guide to Prague for students and backpackers
Introduction to Prague
Prague is the largest city in the Czech Republic and is also the capital. It is situated on the River Vltava in central Bohemia and has been the political, cultural, and economic center of the Czech state for over 1100 years. The city of culture has been regarded as one of the most beautiful in Europe and is an ideal destination for tour.
Most of Prague’s top attractions are accessible by foot. However there is an established transport system with trams, buses and a subway. This however becomes scarcer at night. The main town square is filled with a variety of bars and restaurants, with gift shops and market stalls also present. A short walk from the town square is Wenceslas square, home of many clubs and stripshows. As well as bars, pubs and clubs, Prague is home to many museums, theatres and pretentious architecture, giving the perfect mix of activities for the day and night.
Although the Czech Republic is a member of the EU, it has yet to adopt the Euro. The currency used is Czech crowns, which may explain why beer is so cheap, 50p per pint in some bars! As well as cheap booze, cheap flights and accomodation are also available, making Prague an extremely popular tour destination among students.
